Land protection is GriefPrevention. Inside your claim nobody else can build, break, open containers, or take from your animals. Outside it, anybody can do anything.
Making a claim
- Hold a golden shovel. Click one corner, then the opposite corner.
- Hold a stick and click any block to inspect who owns what.
- A claim covers everything beneath your selection, all the way to bedrock — you do not need to claim your mine separately.
- Minimum size is 5 blocks wide and 100 blocks of area.
- There is no limit on how many claims you own, only on total blocks.
Claim blocks
| Starting blocks | 1,000 |
| Earned per hour played | 150 |
| Maximum you can bank | 80,000 |
| Refund on abandoning | 100% |
Blocks are area, not volume — a 20×20 claim costs 400 regardless of how tall it is. Abandoning a claim gives every block back, so claiming generously early costs you nothing permanent.
Letting other people in
/trust <player>— full build access/containertrust <player>— chests and furnaces, no building/accesstrust <player>— doors and buttons only/untrust <player>— revoke
Trust is per-claim. Trusting someone at your base does not trust them at your farm.
Two things that catch people out
- Claims do not work in the End. They are enabled in the Overworld, the Nether and the spawn world, and disabled in the End. Anything you build out there is unprotected, permanently.
- Claims expire if you stop playing. An automatic chest claim goes after 14 days, a claim you never built in after 30, and everything after 120 days away — unless you have banked 10,000 claim blocks, which exempts you.
