Does it add up?

The total money held by every player is measured directly, independently of the figures above. If the two disagree, money moved through a path the ledger cannot see — and it is better to say so than to show a tidy total that is wrong.

Why money disappears

BloomCraft has one real source of new money — selling to the Bazaar — and several places it drains away. That is deliberate. A world where currency only ever accumulates ends with prices nobody can afford and a first day nobody enjoys.

Land upkeep Claims larger than 30×30 pay weekly rent on the space beyond that. The first 900 blocks are always free, so a house, a farm and somewhere to sleep never cost anything. Rates rise in bands, so a modest plot is a rounding error and a private continent is not.
Shop stalls Rented from the server by the week. Rent replaces the usual fee for opening a chest shop inside one.
Ranks Each rung of the ladder is bought outright. Nothing is refunded, and prestige starts the climb again from the bottom.
Contracts Every contract is paid for up front. Finish it and you clear a profit; run out of time and the buy-in is gone.
Sales tax A share of every chest-shop and auction sale, taken on the way through.

Land upkeep is the one people ask about most, so plainly: it exists because claim blocks accrue with playtime and never expire, which makes land the only thing on the server that costs nothing to hold forever. Charging for the large ones turns idle territory into a decision — keep paying, or release it so somebody else can build there. Higher ranks are given a larger free allowance rather than a discount, so the perk is space rather than a percentage. Unpaid claims are warned, then released: your build is never deleted, it simply stops being protected, and every claim block comes back to you.
